Bridging Horizons

Paving the Way from Interact to Rotaract

In an inspiring collaboration, the Rotaract Club of Gampaha teamed up with the Interact Club of Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, to launch the 'Bridging Horizons' project. This virtual gathering marked a significant step towards guiding young Interact members through the transition to Rotaract, offering them a window into the vast opportunities that Rotaract presents. The session was not only a platform for learning but also a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of leaders. The session covered three areas and it was done by Rtr. IPP Sanara Gamage.

Heal the Bay

A Testament to Community and Environmental Stewardship

In an impactful display of environmental commitment and community spirit, the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo Central and Gampaha spearheaded the 'Heal the Bay' initiative, a beach clean-up event at Crow Island Beach, Colombo. This collaborative effort underscored the vital importance of preserving marine ecosystems and highlighted the detrimental effects of pollution on our natural habitats.

Following the environmentally significant 'Heal the Bay' project, the Rotaract Clubs of Colombo Central and Gampaha convened for a Personal Development (PD) session. This session, rooted in the experiences garnered from the beach cleanup, aimed to channel the ethos of community service into avenues for personal and professional enhancement among the Rotaract members.

Avurudu '24

A Festive Fusion of Sinhala and Tamil New Year Traditions

The project "අවුරුදු 24'" aimed to celebrate the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year, through a series of culturally rich and engaging activities. The project sought to bring together club members with the spirit of festivity and unity.
The event featured games such as pebbles on a yoghurt spoon, balloon dance, blindfold yoghurt, and traditional favorites like අලියට ඇස (Aliyata Esa) and තුන්පා දිවීම (Thunpa Diwima). Additionally, participants enjoyed catching water-filled balloons, පැණි බඹරය, බැලූන් පිපිරවීම, and බෝතලයට වතුර පිරවීම. The fun continued with a paper dance, සැඟවුණු අමුත්තා, musical hat, and card games. The project team meticulously crafted a detailed schedule to ensure a smooth flow of activities, adding a festive spirit of unity among club members.

Career Compass

Navigate Your Career Journey For Success

The Career Compass initiative is a comprehensive series of sessions designed to provide end-to-end guidance for students, undergraduates, youth, and job seekers. The thoughtfully curated topics ensure a holistic approach to career development, covering essential areas such as self-reflection, career exploration, and goal setting. The program includes detailed strategies for choosing a major, exploring educational pathways, and effectively navigating job searches across various industries like IT, Banking & Finance, Design & Architecture, and FMCG.
Participants will benefit from sessions on personal branding, professional etiquette, and continuous learning, which are crucial for career advancement and lifelong learning. The series also addresses the importance of adapting to changing career landscapes by developing transferable skills, embracing entrepreneurship, and freelancing opportunities. Additionally, the program focuses on navigating challenges and building resilience, offering guidance on overcoming setbacks, achieving work-life balance, and coping with change. This initiative aims to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their professional and personal journeys.

March Meetup

From Laughter to Lasting Memories

The Colombo Meetup, was one of the best opportunities which all the club members got a chance to connect with each other. From 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, the place was alive with laughter and excitement. We were surrounded by nature, which made everything even better. We played that brought us nostalgic memories of school days where we had so much fun. The sound of our laughter and cheers filled the air, showing just how much we enjoyed being together. We left with happy memories and a stronger sense of belonging to our community.

Celebrating Diversity Through the Art

Phase II of "වර්ණயாலம்" (Varanayalam) was a joint project of Rotaract clubs of Gampaha , Kadawatha, Katugasthota Region, Pamunugama, Port City, University of Kelaniya, University of Peradeniya, and Wayamba University of Sri lanka.
People who came to the event got to see the incredible artwork created by the students with special needs. It was a really special day that showed how important it is to appreciate and support diversity in our communities.
